Jesus and Christian Origins Outside the New Testament

БРЮС  (Bruсe) Фредерик Фиви (р. 1910), англ. протестантский ученый, специалист по экзегезе НЗ. Учился в Кембридже. В 30-50-х гг. преподавал в различных ун-тах библ. историю, новозав. экзегезу и критику. Был президентом Общества новозав. исследований, а также гл. ред. серии «Интернациональный комментарий к НЗ».

Основные труды Б. посвящены НЗ, нек-рые относятся к общим вопросам библеистики, кумрановедению и ВЗ. В частн., ему принадлежит исследование «Хетты и Ветхий Завет» («The Hittites and the Old Testament», L., 1947), в к-ром Б. предпринял попытку установить хронологич. рамки Быт 14 (Б. отождествил Фидала с хет. царем Тудхалиасом). Проблемы библ. текстологии рассмотрены Б. в популярном труде «Книга и пергаменты» («The Books and the Parchments»,  L., 1950). В 1951 Б. издал греч. текст Деяний с комментариями, а вскоре вышла аналогичная работа, но уже с англ. переводом («Commentary on the Book of the Acts», L.-Grand Rapids, 1954). Как и большинство представителей англ. школы, Б. придерживается в толковании умеренного критицизма, избегая спорных и сомнительных гипотез. После краткого введения, где рассмотрены проблемы авторства Деяний (его составителем Б. признает ев. Луку), а также соотношения Деяний со всем НЗ, комментатор последовательно анализирует каждый стих, снабжая его филологич. заметками. Затем следует связный развернутый комментарий к группе стихов (объединенных смысловым единством). К нему дается богатый библиогр. аппарат. Б. показывает историч. достоверность рассказа ев. Луки, одновременно подчеркивая богосл. установки, к-рые определяли его построение.

Одной из лучших работ Б. является большое исследование об ап. Павле («Paul: Apostle of the Free Spirit», Exeter, 1977); в нем даются очерки жизни апостола, его богословия и рассмотрены все его послания. По духу книга близка к труду *Глубоковского Н.Н. «Благовестие св. ап. Павла по его происхождению и существу. Библ.-богосл. исследование» (В 3 кн., СПб., 1905-12). К этому исследованию Б. примыкает небольшая книга о первых благовестниках Евангелия: «Петр, Стефан, Иаков и Иоанн; христианство до времени ап. Павла» («Peter, Stephen, James and John; studies in early non-Pauline christianity», Grand Rapids, Mich., 1980).
